TRIUMPH – a new hop variety developed by John Henning, a research geneticist at USDA. This aromatic hops, characterized by high yield and unique aroma, was named because of its triumph over other experimental hops both in the field and in the greenhouse – and also due to Henning’s love of Triumph motorcycles.
“We took Tom Nielsen from Sierra Nevada to show him this new hop variety. After sniffing, he said, ‘we’ll take 2,000 pounds for our fresh hop beer.” Half the harvest disappeared on the spot.
As for the aroma – a strong punch of tropical fruit and bubble gum. We are talking about the iconic Bazooka gum. Added to this is a peach and stone fruit. We sense SZTOS!
